Environmental and Heavy Metal Toxicity | Supportive Care for Cancer Patients
ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEAVY METAL TOXICITY
The environment in which we live is full of chemicals in our food, air, water, and ourselves. We and our children have been given vaccinations with preservative thiomersol, which contains the toxic heavy metal, mercury. Mercury is present in many of the fish we eat. Silver dental amalgams contain mercury which slows releases into our bodies. Lead, another toxic heavy metal is present in old paint, ink and pencils. The EPA Environmental Protection Agency has been studying toxins in human fat tissue, known as the NHATS the National Human Adipose Tissue Survey. High percentages of the samples contain benzene, toluene, dioxins, mercury, lead, and PCB’s, to name a few.
Due to this widespread contamination we are finding increased rates of toxin-related autism, behavioral disorders, psychological imbalances, neurological diseases, autoimmune diseases, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
This Clinic has found toxicity exposure to become inherited factors which can skip generations and surface as disease. Therefore the mother who as a child played in her fathers old printing press room environment that provided lead exposure gave birth to a child with Autism and a neurological disease consistent with lead poisoning.
Thallium which is present in cigarette smoke, air and food is another toxic heavy metal which causes autoimmune diseases, such as scleroderma, and is known to produce excruciating pains. Mercury toxicity produces depression, arthritis, violent emotions and behaviors, and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma,
The multidisciplinary holistic approach of this Clinic offers a unique ability to understand what combination of treatment modalities will yield the best outcome in detoxification of toxic burdens, and removal of diseases and symptoms.
We know from experience that scientifically sound laboratory testing goes hand in hand with the most effective methods of detoxification. Below is a sample of a urine panel for toxic metals that we have found to be a reliable marker for metal toxicity when performed with the right protocol and testing sequence.
SUPPORTIVE CARE FOR CANCER PATIENTS – THE COMPLIMENTARY INTEGRATION OF ACUPUNCTURE
Integrative Oncology is the combination of “mainstream” care and evidenced-based complimentary therapies to control cancer-related pain and symptoms [source: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Integrative Medicine]. Holistic medicine, while not given the attention that allopathic cancer therapies receive, are perhaps equally important while undergoing treatment for certain types of cancer, including mesothelioma. Patients diagnosed with difficult to treat malignancies will often use holistic therapies in conjunction with conventional treatment options, which include surgery, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy, to form a more comprehensive and effective treatment regimen. Among the most effective supportive holistic therapies utilized by those diagnosed with cancer is Acupuncture.
Patients who undergo Acupuncture in conjunction with mainstream cancer therapies have experienced dramatic reductions in malaise, nausea, depression and pain. They experience increased energy and a restoration of mental – emotional wellbeing. Cancer patients who feel energized, are pain-free and have a balanced mental – emotional state are more likely to withstand conventional cancer treatment and have an increased survival rate.
Acupuncture fulfills the goal of providing supportive care to cancer patients by keeping the circulation of all the meridians in harmony. Japanese acupuncture techniques offered in the Acupuncture & Wellness Clinic of Jonathan Breslow offer gentle yet deep acting treatment results for the cancer patient.
Acupuncture is said to be so effective, in fact, that the World Health Organization [WHO] has recognized Acupuncture as a successful intervention for adverse reactions to radiation and chemotherapy. The National Institute of Health [NIH] also agreed that Acupuncture may relieve nausea and pain experienced by cancer sufferers, and the organization supports acupuncture clinical trials.
